Uh oh, you just know nothing good is going to come out of that second date. That was a fun read and creeepy! Nobody needs a friend that ignores your gut instinct. I had a dream once that my date turned into a monster so I dropped him like a hot rock. I'm pretty sure my intuition saved me.
You are so great at description, in all your stories. But I never know you ou were also great at dialogue!!! Written so well! I loved the rusty smell, that really topped it off. I want her to go back and find that street!!
This one got me as soon as I read muddy, metallic, and smells like rust. Nope. A slow burn of a piece; your immaculate writing builds from a looming sense of unease and increases exponentially into an all out heart pounding fear. Oh I feel uneasy for what happens to the girl next; I do hope she trusts her instincts. You’ve translated that unspoken, indescribable feeling of pure adrenaline in the blood into words on the page so perfectly, and it’s accurate as all get out. One ghoul of a scary tale of foreboding as dark as the hallow night. The tale you’ve conjured up feels like an unsettling, bone-chilling phantasmagoria, a dating nightmare. Phenomenally written!
Very tricky story premise rolled out with masterful style, EJ. One of those ones where I'm on the edge of my seat, not for the characters, but for the author.
But you made it back in one piece. Try it one more time, I dare you...

“The hairs on my neck stood up. I could feel him really close, a cold spot over my shoulder, that rusty smell drifting all around.””
Loved every bit of this! It’s so hard to do heavy dialogue well but you aced it!
🙏 thank you! I really enjoyed these characters
Nice! Dating is all about trusting your gut.
Strange NYer or a vampire? Who can tell on the apps…
So awesome, and so true! This is EXACTLY how it would go. I really love the all-dialogue, too.
“Do you think he has like, a circulation problem?” 🫣 and weird is TOTALLY a feeling. Girl, text Marcus. Not creepy cold dude with an odd smell…
I love the all dialogue format!! the people demand a sequel!!
A+

Jessica I can’t thank you enough for your generous comment. I’m so glad you enjoy my work!
Enjoyed this one a lot
E.J., this is a terrific story. The creating of atmosphere as she moves into what might be a spirit realm was beautifrully done.
Oh no... not another date... 😱 don't do it!
Excellently told!

I was afraid for myself too 😂 almost pulled the plug on it!
I don’t know how to get this story to the Hinge community, but every single NYC girlie needs to read it ASAP!
don’t take advice from your silly friends
