A great fable of these times. In fact if you think about it - and you obviously have - live human misery is the great opium that hasn't yet been marketed and commodified as it could be.

You could probably get in on the ground floor of the audio-grimness-ASMR business, EJ.

I was taken aback by the description of the office at the start. when it comes to great setting description we often think of embellished worldbuilding, but it's commendable that you made such a monotonous place stick so clearly in my head!

This one wreaks of truth over fiction. We all have worked or at least walked in that office, a scourge of modern low end jobs, the beige of work-a-day living. But what really got me was the truth of a society that literally gets off on the same suffering they so disdain! GOOD ONE EJ!!
