With her fingertips in the deep dark, she brushed against branching white roots and tangled mycorrhizal nets, pale, strange underground life, blind worms and bacterial mats. Spring was springing, all around.
Ewwwwwww…This was such an amazing story, but ewwww. The stuff of nightmares. The way you kept Lily unaware of the danger through most of the story while the reader is screaming Stop! the whole time was masterfully done. I won’t be forgetting this anytime soon!
Well if I’m going to be buried alive, which is also on my list of fears, best to be anesthetized: “Her mushy brain received the sensations without perceiving the threat.” Wow. Absolutely terrifying. Great work, EJ. Keep ‘em coming.
Wow it's so lurid in details. I really love your writing. You really pulled me in.
This story reminded me of a children's story, Mary's cherry tree — about an unruly mary who ate a cherry seed and it grew out of her, where a fairy sat and told Mary's siblings that they can partake in the cherries Mary's tree makes but that Mary was forever to lay there and bear her cherry tree.
I love this post, I can't wait to read your future novels, I hope you publish one or more.

This really made my skin crawl … amazing as always
If your collected works are ever illustrated, this one’s going to be stunning!
Grosss this one was ssooo beautiful , like melting into a Peter Max poster while lying in mud!!!
This was a wild ride. I'm scared of grass now
Ew.
Creepy, crawly, moist springtime nightmare
Excellent. Your word choices blow me away.
