Classic EC vibes! This could so easily work as a graphic novel. Loved where she corrects the name. Mastery!

Blast from the past, time travelling back to the original 1950s period. Would it be wrong of me to say I actually kind of love their new and happy life? Gotta go now and have a word with my wife...

Love it! The morbid twist at the end was like a blood-red cherry on top of a heaping mound of flesh-colored horror ice cream. I ate every bite. :-)

Oh, and I think the Lichtensteins live on my street...

Holy hell this is terrifying, in the best possible way. As a cat person, I must admit I’ve hesitated to read any of the Zone, bc I can spook myself out with wondering if curiosity tends to be blessing or a curse? Idk, I kinda let curiosity get the best of me; nevertheless I thought it’s best to try reading the Zone stories, because your storytelling skills are phenomenal and I believe a ton of good faith work went into this collaborative project. I like this haunting tale of misadventures in the art world, what risks are taken when people adhere to the myth of creative genius, the possibility of danger when a person goes far into a world built upon fantasy. Though I do believe there are redemptive qualities within the enduring strength and collective power of our human imaginations. There’s a balance, I think. This horror tale of these 3 characters reads almost like a tragicomic mythology, a cautionary warning. Your exceptional prose elevates the theme and creates a whole world through the clever use of imagery and language. I like this, it’s beautiful and spooky af. Thank you for sharing your homage to the Twilight Zone, because I’m enjoying reading your story as well as the collection of stories created in the spirit of the collective imagination.

The Lichtensteins clearly don't live on my street, because there are way too many cats (and chickens) running wild around here. I love a good mad scient-- err, *artist* story! Nice one, EJ! 👏

it's funny cuz i was saving this one, kinda like the Lichtensteins. As other have mentioned, this story feels like a teleplay. I can see it shot for shot. super well done, great idea!

The subtleties here were lovely. The scene jumps were very cinematic and effective. Excellent story!!! It was truly a pleasure to read. Made me think of the "écorchés" in France's Fragonard Museum. Something to add to your itinerary if you're in Paris :)

Can't help but see us horror writers in the Lichtensteins, adding resin eyes and air holes to our sewn up creations. haha
